Simckes Named to Mo. Genetics Advisory Committee
St. Peters Physician is an Expert in the Treatment of Infertility
ST. PETERS, Mo. (July 7, 2010) – The Fertility Partnership is pleased to announce the appointment of founder and Medical Director Dr. David Elan Simckes to the Missouri Genetics Advisory Committee. Dr. Simckes was appointed to the post by Gov. Jay Nixon and confirmed by the Missouri Senate.
Dr. Simckes is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist and has worked in the field of infertility in both Israel and St. Louis for more than 20 years. Through this prestigious appointment, Dr. Simckes will help guide policy making in the rapidly expanding field of genetic medicine.
“I have been fascinated by the study of genetics my entire life. I am honored and humbled by this appointment and look forward to serving the people of Missouri to intelligently and thoughtfully advance genetic medicine in our state,” said Dr. D. Elan Simckes.
The Missouri Genetic Advisory Committee was created to advise the Department of Health and Senior Services on advances in the research and treatment of genetic disease. The advisory panel was born out of the findings of the Humane Genome Project, which mapped out the genetic blueprint for human beings.
An estimated 20% of all families are affected by a genetic or genetic related disorder.
